Introducing the Primrose Corset Dress

Let me first off tell you how much fun I had making this dress! Of course it is a pattern from the very talented and wonderful Create Kids Couture (www.createkidscouture.com) If you are a seamstress and haven't used any of their patterns you don't know what you are missing out on! Their patterns are so well written and the customer service is OUTSTANDING!! Now let me tell you about this dress! The primrose is a stunning dress has a darling long sweetheart bodice and a unique corset design. The corset is sewn into the bodice and can easly be tied to the front or the back for the look you desire! This is the perfect ruffle princess dress for that little girl in your life! Use her favorite princess colors or characters for a fun themed dress! Use cotton and linens or satins and lace and let your imagination take you away!

Now it took me FOREVER to decide which fabrics I was going to use on this and I can't believe how beautiful the dress turned out! The dress main fabric is by Michael Miller Plain Jane Lil Daisy Fuchsia, I absolutely LOVE this fabric. It is paired with the Pink Chevron from Brothers and Sisters (Hobby Lobby) and the Pink swirls on black (not sure the name but another Hobby Lobby fabric) The corset is sewn into the side seams so it can be worn in the front or the back!

The back is shirred for the perfect fit and the beautiful look that shirring gives you!

If you are a seamstress you NEED this and every other pattern from Create Kids Couture! If you would like to purchase this dress find me on Etsy or Facebook (links below)

How KSMonkeys Came to Be

Well I thought maybe I would tell everyone how KSMonkeys came to be. I have been sewing since I was about 7 years old. An older neighbor of my parents would sew baby clothes for charity and I was always at her house helping her cut and sew. I would spend HOURS over there. I instantly feel in love with sewing. I continued to sew throughout my teenage years. Right after high school I joined the Air Force and of course sewing got put on the back burner. In 2005 I had my first daughter, Kaylie. I was still active duty so sewing was far and in between. In 2007, pregnant with our second daughter, Savannah, I was released from active duty and my brain starting in overdrive. Having 2 girls and now I was a SAHM I knew we couldn't afford the cute boutique clothing. I starting sewing again in my spare time. It wasn't until I was pregnant with our THIRD daughter, Madelyn that I really starting sewing for the girls. My friends would then ask me to make their daughters dresses or tutus. I then remembers how much I loved to sew! In 2009 I started sewing for all of my friends and family. Of course as I was getting settled my husband, who was also Active Duty, got orders to Minot, ND. So I packed everything up and off to Minot we went! Once we got settled I knew I wanted to sew for not only my girls but all of the moms like me that couldn't afford the "boutique" clothing. Thus KSMonkeys was born.

Now why KSMonkeys you may be asking yourself. Well my girls names are Kaylie, Savannah and Madelyn and I have always called them my little monkeys, so it seemed to fit.
My girls (of course all in KSMonkey clothing)

Kaylie is in a Circle Skirt, Savannah is in a Millie Skirt ({SIG}pattern, and Madelyn is in a Bella Dress ~~ all available for purchase through the Facebook or Etsy pages

Then in 2012 along came my sweet girl, my last baby, Katelyn!
God only knows why he gave me 4 girls.

My hubby asked, "You going to change the name now?" Nope sticking with KSMonkeys. I love the name and there is an extra k in it for Katelyn.

So there you have how KSMonkeys came to be!
